Kurt Busch confirmed on Thursday that he would not be competing in the next NASCAR Cup Series events at Watkins Glen International and Daytona International Speedway.

Busch won’t be driving the No. 45 Toyota for the rest of the regular season as long as his Pocono Raceway incident on July 24 has left him with concussion-like symptoms. The veteran will have missed the fifth and sixth events, respectively, at Watkins Glen and Daytona.

Busch stated in a statement, “As much as I want to get in the vehicle, the moment is still not right. “… Although difficult, this choice is the right one.

Ty Gibbs, a regular in the Xfinity Series, is scheduled to operate the No. 45 Toyota for 23XI at both Daytona and Sunday’s Go Bowling at The Glen (3 p.m. ET, USA Network, NBC Sports App, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). For the No. 45 squad, Gibbs started the final four races, earning three top-17 finishes.
