While violence that erupted in the border town near Texas on Friday may be related to a number of occurrences in Tijuana and the surrounding area, hundreds of Mexican soldiers were rushed to Ciudad Juarez.

The consulate further recommended Americans to stay away from the area, find shelter if they were there, let their friends and family know what was happening, and keep an eye on news reports for updates.
