Voters in Wyoming’s primary opt to support the former president rather than upholding democracy.
It was a beautiful location for a swansong. On August 16, Liz Cheney , who was defeated in the Republican primary for Wyoming’s sole congressional seat, delivered her concession address from a ranch close to Jackson. She informed her audience that she could have won, but that “it would have required that I go along with President Trump’s deception about the 2020 election,” and that “that was a route I could not and would not pursue.” The Teton mountain range served as her backdrop. Republican primaries are more significant than general elections since they are held in America’s least populous state, which is a deep ruby red. The overwhelming majority of voters decided to send Donald Trump’s supporter and attorney Harriet Hageman to Congress instead.
“She won,” Ms Cheney said simply, “This primary election is over.”
